| case is ready getting washed out today, big valve heads have arrived i will put the die grinder to work on them so they will breath WELL with the 45 dual dells. 2 items left on the list rods and remote oil filter then the 60 will have a heart beat to make some grown men cry like myself. the steering wheel swap i did looks great i used one from a 59 doner.the body is in very good shape so paint will come much later colors have already been chosen. i am pleased to finally see the lite at the end of this 3 year tunnel. my goal is to have it up and running for the cookout i am hosting and the wild weekend. wish me luck. | |

| the motor is a 2165 with some extreme head work why have big valve heads if they can't breath but then i rework all of my heads. i am running a VZ35 cam with 1.25 rokers and dual dellorto 45's merged header with stainless A1 fat boy. the color will be bright cherry metalic red. the interior will be camel/tan. paint and interior will come later. stock trans for now with super diff. the car is all original i have stored all the parts that are not being used. yes original numbers matching i recieved this car from my wife and daughter as a fathers day gift 3 years ago it has spent it's life with me so far in my shop waiting on funds and a direction. pics to come as soon as i figure out how to get them posted from photobucket. my pic is my 60 | |

| thanks to all the fine people I have met through this site for keeping my hopes up and the inspiration I need to keep involved with these fun cars. As far as tires go I will keep the 205/40/17 on the front the same size is on the rear for now,the plan for the rear is a drag radial 275/45/17 that should get the power to the ground. If that doesn't work I can always go bigger. I don't plan on lowering the rear to make sure I have plenty of room for tire clearance. | |

| What's the history on the car? Was it originally an euro spec or are the bumpers from another car? I know you mentioned that it was original but I thought all american '60's had overriders. | |

| It is us spec the original owner has the fender welded so the euro bumpers could be used. I like it that way myself and the meal work on the fenders to fill in the over rider holes is great. I am the third owner but second to title the car. The only documents I have on the car is the title with original owner on it. I contacted them about an original bill of sale or dealer papers and through the years have been misplaced or lost but that is ok with me. OG motor still runs and has never been opened same with the 60 crash box tranny. The second owner installed adjusters in beam which I don't like so later I will repair beam back to original and store with motor and trans and install a regular adjustable beam. I an confused about the radio it doesn't have one but has a hole for an antenna not sure if they were produced that way. Radio delete plate is original. Don't worry the one in the car that the tach is mounted to is also from the donor 59. | |

| To my knowledge, the antennas were added by the dealer if a radio was purchased. They were never added by the factory in that year. I could be wrong but thats what i've heard. Mabey the PO installed one only to remove it later and put the plate back in. Its to bad these cars don't come with a complete history as to the work performed on them but then again, mabey there's somethings we don't want to know | |

| That is very true. I do have to give my wife credit for searching so hard to find me such a nice car with or without documents I love it and I can't wait to take her out to dinner or just cruise in it. She does get the first ride and she will be able to drive it if the power from the motor doesn't scare her. She was afraid of my rail with a 2017 hopefully she won't be scared. | |

| now that i have been able to drive my fun toy around i have reached the decision to restore her back to original and give her back to my wife. she doesn't know it but i want to give it to her for her birthday in jan. i will go with the OG 60 colors for a complete restoration. the beast motor will go into my 68 EMPI IMP. both vehicles will be painted at same time so that my wife wont know until after the paint has been shot. i will be getting the paint for both at the same time BLUE for the 60 and the EMPI will be the bright cherry metalic RED with metalic silver. a thread to come on the EMPI. i sure hope my wife likes what the outcome will be. surprised? | |

I was wondering though... Since it seems like you have built a few big motors, can you give me an idea how much it costs to build one of those rascals? I have a 1600 single port right now and I am pondering it's future... | |

| ok here is another update. now that we have been up and running the truth is starting to come out on some of the items i have used on this part of the project. i have found that i need to run a larger diameter fuel line to feed these carbs. the new full flow in and out type oil pump is only good for a stock motor i will be tearing down the motor drilling and tapping for full flow. then i will be able to go back to using my larger geared oil pump and have acceptable oil pressure once again. tire size does matter case in point the cruise to north port. stock rims are getting fitted with new shoes as of this post. even though the 17" rims look good i want to be able to cruise. i haven't concerned myself with the looks of this car yet only because i know there will be a complete tear down to completely restoer back to original. then i will concentrate on the looks. but until i am ready i will drive the wheels off. waiting on a couple of more items for EMPI IMP then my shop will be closed down for a dual build restoration of the 60 and the complete build of the IMP. yes both at the same time. the shop door will be LOCKED so that my wife will not be able to get in at all! i will take the but chewing only because she wont know that the 60 is going to be restored as she wanted and that i will be giving it back to her and i to will have a play toy to enjoy for myself. | |

| well the cat is out of the bag. while at the bug jam i had to break down and tell my wife what was going on with the bug. the disapointed look on her face was more than i could handle plus it is getting hard to make excuses for the parts i have been getting and hard to hide the ones that i have already picked up. she is very excited and pleased that our bug will be restored back to its factory original condition. now she is on board and on the hunt for some of the remaining items from our original parts list. look out bug jam 2011 there will be a new look for this 60 or should i say the correct look. there will be updates on the progress as the tear down will start in just a few short weeks so stay tuned | |
