| I pulled all the intake and tins off the new engine for the oval. I also popped off a valve cover and to my surprise it looks Magnificent in there. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Today was a REAL busy day. After a morning visit by Muddobber to check out the new panel, I got to work on the 13 window. I'm trying to sell it and felt like it would be easier if I fixed a couple issues. Spent most of the day sanding Rage Extreme body filler (I recommend it) and am happy with the results. Next was mounting the mail box. Well it turned out to be more like a mail fortress but I had fun with it. It got mounted on a piece of 8" channel iron which got welded to a 6" galv coupling which was mounted to a 10' by 6" galv pipe we had laying around at work. | Thanks to Muddobber on Saturday I was able to sandblast my axle tubes and brake backing plates, also ran by Sundance and picked up new wheel cylinders, and rebuild kits for the rear brakes. Today I fully cleaned, primed and painted them. Now they are Oval worthy. I will be installing these in the New F/F from Rancho this week, then when I get the car back it will be ready to slide in. I can't wait. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Worked on my Oval : I added a new 1 1/2 quart oil sump, changed oil and remote oil filter, put in new plugs, wires, fuel pump, EMPI electronic distributor, throttle cable, copper exhaust gaskets, brass exhaust nuts, rejetted carbs, media blasted carbs and manifolds, sanded and painted header and engine tin, added new sand seal pulley and new alternator/pulley, new belt. Painted steering wheel , steering column and emergency brake lever, installed new ignition switch and OG Oval light switch. Scraped and polished vent window frames (PO had painted them). |

Little bit of wiring and hook up the fuel line and i'm back on the street. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Not a VW but a very special project I'm working on. My granddaughter told Santa a week before Christmas last year that she wanted a merry go round ! Well with only a week Santa couldn't get it built for her. But Santa wrote her a letter saying Grandpa would make her one! I thought I had Till Christmas to build but I was informed it was to be ready for her birthday on August 5th So I've been busy! Took a trailer hub and spindle and built a frame out of 1"x2" box 8' diameter plywood deck I made the handrails out of 3/4" rigid conduit Here are some pictures from this afternoon [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I'm going to paint it tomorrow and put a coat of fiberglass resin on it Tuesday Hope to pour the concrete to mount it next weekend if I'm not working! |

| I really didn't want to do this yet but I have had to pull the engine on the double cab today Coming back from Dover this morning the Generator light popped on. The belt was good so I came on home. I had a spare regulator but that didn't fix it generator is shot so.. out with the engine [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]the problem- out with the old generator [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]In with the new Bosch Alternator [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This is the Craig's list score of a new alternator kit from a while back! BTW the easy button didn't work! I'm going to change the clutch and the flywheel seal while its out along with push rod tube seals Think I'll repaint the engine compartment [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And I have found several pieces of tin that are torn or have cracks in them so I'll weld them up while I'm at it then repaint all the tin! so that should keep busy for a few days. Anybody got a torque buddy for the flywheel nut I can borrow?? |

| Found out my car was overcharging the battery after the VW's over the skyway show. Since then I have replaced the alternator with an internally regulated (Chinese until I get rich!) alternator. I have also swapped the 30 pict silex for a 40IDF weber! Replaced the transaxle that I blew up after I got too eager to drive the first time around, didn't put oil in it and yes, it does lock up! Changed plugs and wires, blocked off the heat riser holes, set the dwell and timing. I have been driving it daily for the past two weeks and am extremely happy!! |
