First topic message reminder :

I just thought I'd show some of the progress we've made on the Oval. Let me know what you think.....so far.
The starting point

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Inside (Old Pans)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Cleaning and scraping

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

New Pans Installed

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Wide 5 Disc's and Drop Spindles installed

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Smoothies, Blasted, Painted and New Rubber

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Body Painted, Inside and Out

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Nice Dash (I love the uncut dash)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

From the Back

I have so many questions! First though, I love the color you chose. Now for the questions...

Did you take the body off yourself or did you take it off at the painters and tow home the frame?

Your heater channels looked in decent shape. If they were not in good condition, does one need to support the door frame prior to removing the body?

Was it difficult to get the pans in? Is reasonable to think an inexperienced welder (like myself) could do the job?

Where did you purchase your disc brakes and lowered spindles? How much did you lower it? Many folks that lower opt for a narrowed beam will you be doing that?

Sorry for the many questions, but you are doing several things I will end up doing, Lord willing.

I'll try to help the ever busy Bugn. Don't take this as gospel but:
-He wheeled the body down on the pan
-Support is wise to keep the body straight
-Never done it but there's really not much to it.
-Can't remember where he got the brakes. I know he did opt for a narrowed beam without shock towers.

-If it helps, I purchased the CB wide 5 disc brake kit with lowered spindles. Pretty nice kit IMO.

clap AMEN!

Nice Job........it seems as though you remember more than I do. All of that is exactly how it happened. Here is the link to the brake kit thread: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Thanks for the compliment on the color, I am finally working on it again. I am hoping to get it done before the Jam.

So here's the update. After everything was in and I thought we were close........I noticed a leak in the right sideplate on the tranny. It all had to come back out, to repair the leak. It is back in now and all seem well.......so far. Here are a couple of pics.

Ron, do have the gas tank in yet? I would love to get a shot of the dual master cylinder and how you hooked everything up.

So....I finally got to drive it. It's pretty solid. I need to adjust the brakes, the timing, and the carbs. Good news is, it looks like it will be ready for the JAM! I hope my back holds up. This has taken a lot out of me, and it sucks getting old!
