most VW people do a single draw thru carb with a turbo, but you can blow through your dual carbs (after you modify the carbs some). Motor wise, you want lower compression and a milder cam usually. Now would be a good time to do it if you've got the motor apart.

I've never built a turbo VW, but have built a turbo mustang as well as helped with a few others, so if you decide to do this, I can help. I've built exhaust manifolds, done intake plumbing, programmed EFI for turbo's, etc.

Using a card set up will give you good driving around town OR put it thru the floor fun. Its really hard to jet a carb to do both. A carb can't adjust your air/fuel ratio on the run like EFI can. Thats a doable cam and set your compression at no more than 9.1 (8.1 is better).
Dave is taking you down the right path. Welcome to forced induction. Sit back and HOLD ON. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
