| still trying to get the engine running right...heres the problem...#4(L/R if in the drivers seat) cylinder is not firing at all. you can pull the plug wire off the dist. and nothing changes and you can hold you hand on that header for as long as you want after its been running a while. the compression is the equal in all cylinders and i have adjusted the valves. my guess is it is either a bad plug wire or dist. cap. am i on the right track or are there any other suggestions. also...could this be causing it to spit and spudder at low throttle. it wants to fall on its face when you take off easy but if you get on the throttle hard it clears up and runs good. thanks for the help!!!!! | |

| it sounds like your on the right track. Im surprised it runs good at full throttle I would check cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and points. you may want to swap plugs and or wires with another cylinder and see if that cylinder comes alive. | |

| Justin, The dist cap is a good bet as is the wire to #4. Do you have a vacume advance (check for leaks) or a centrifugal one? You can also hang a timing light on #4 (to tell when it comes on) and advance the throttle until you see the timing pulse. When you get it fixed, you should see a pulse on #4 at idle. Hope this helps | |

| first swap the wire and plug with another cyl and see if that changes anything,
Is this a new engine or did you just have the intake off? if so check for a vacume leak at the intake boot and the head, then you can spend your money on what's bad instead of just swaping parts | |
